Comprehensive Medical Solutions, Inc. (CompMed) has partnered with Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) in Dalton, Georgia to serve as an Internship Program host for the 2021 Spring semester.

“We want to support our local community as much as we can; this internship program helps us do that.  The proximity of our campuses made it a natural fit,” Angela Patterson, FACMPE, CPCO, Chief Operating Officer of CompMed, said.  CompMed created a dedicated training room in its Dalton, Georgia office just for this program.  The campuses are located approximately three miles from each other, making it a convenient quick commute for the student to go from the classroom to an office environment.

The internship program spans 15 weeks and is part of the student’s course curriculum.  Students participating in the program are pursuing degrees such as medical billing, practice management, medical coding, and/or accounting.  Students gain knowledge and instruction from CompMed mentors and can directly utilize in the office setting what they are learning in the classroom.  Students must adhere to strict attendance requirements and are evaluated frequently.  The internship program is designed to elevate the student’s skills so that they may have a better opportunity to secure a job in their field after graduation.

Elisabeth Hunt, MBA, Program Director at GNTC relayed “The GNTC Business Healthcare Technology Program prepares students to work in a medical facility environment in areas such as medical coding, reimbursement, compliance, practice management, and health informatics. Our student internships help students build the skill sets needed to work productively on day one of their new career.  CompMed has developed an interactive internship site that allows our students to reach that goal.  The student feedback has been very positive.  We are truly grateful for their innovation and allowing us to work together to better serve the needs of our community.”

“This is a top-notch quality program and we are thrilled to partner with GNTC and be a part of the student’s educational journey,” Patterson commented.
