Cleveland, Tennessee, March 13, 2020 — Angela D. Patterson, FACMPE, CPCO, has become a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE).   ACMPE is the certification entity of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). Fellowship in ACMPE’s industry-leading program demonstrates mastery and expertise in the profession of medical practice management.

To achieve Fellowship, Patterson first earned the Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) designation by passing rigorous examinations that assess knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management, as outlined in the Body of Knowledge for Medical Practice Management. This includes business operations, financial management, human resources management, information management, organizational governance, patient care systems, quality management and risk management.  In addition, Patterson completed a minimum of 50 continuing education credit hours to achieve CMPE status. To earn Fellowship, Patterson submitted a professional paper, “Navigating Insurance Participation for Private Practices: Mitigating Risk and Maximizing Reward,” documenting the objectives and results of an investigation into a health-care management topic.

With a general membership of more than 40,000 medical practice administrators, executives, and leaders, MGMA represents more than 12,500 organizations of all sizes, types, structures and specialties that deliver almost half of the healthcare in the United States.  Today, just over 1,100 individuals have earned ACMPE Fellow status.

Patterson is Vice President at Comprehensive Medical Solutions, Inc. (CompMed), a company that specializes in billing and practice management for physicians and medical practices. She has been with CompMed since 2010 and has almost 30 years experience in medical billing, compliance, HR, credentialing and contracting, and billing system development and analytics. She is a member of and certified by the American Academy of Procedural Coders (AAPC) as a Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO).  Patterson also is a member of Cleveland MGMA (CMGMA), Tennessee MGMA (TMGMA), and Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA).

Patterson reflected, “Completing the MGMA Fellowship program was one of the most personally challenging and professionally rewarding experiences of my career.   I am so excited to become a Fellow with MGMA.”
